Description

If you're looking for the perfect mountain getaway then look no further. This beautifully remodeled three-bedroom, two-bath townhome in The Hillsider complex is ideally located just 2 blocks from the slopes. The community pool and hot tub are steps away from the front door, making it easy to keep an eye on the kids as you relax on the oversized deck in any season.

This townhome was recently updated. New flooring runs throughout the home, highlighting the open space and warming the natural light that pours through the large, picture windows that frame the living area. A plush sofa and two cozy armchairs set around a modern shag area rug, beckon you to settle in and relax next to the gas fireplace. The kitchen features new quartz countertops, a new backsplash, and new appliances, including a gas stove and oven. The kitchen bar top has seating for two, and the dining banquet has enough space for six. The open space on the main level means you will never be far from the action.

The first bedroom with a king-size bed is on the main floor. The bathroom, with a tub/shower, is just outside the hall. At the top of the stairs, you will find another living area with a wet bar, plus two more bedrooms. The second bedroom has a full over full bunk bed with a trundle bed and the third bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The second floor also has another full bathroom.

The unit is fine but we would not stay here again. Note that while it sleeps 9, 5 of those are on the bunk bed/trundle combo - and the trundle is extremely uncomfortable, like a wooden crate. Barely enough towels for 8 of us and there's no housekeeping during the stay. There are some weird angles in the place - the doors opening into the bathrooms are extremely awkward. Otherwise, the place was well-kept and modern, the fireplace worked, etc. The biggest issues are "outside" the unit. A large reason we chose this unit was because of access to laundry. The description says "free on-site laundry," which is NOT true and if it were accurately described we probably wouldn't have chosen this rental in the first place. It's in another building - not far away - but we dragged bags of laundry there to find out that it is not free. 1 washed/dried load requires 8 quarters. Without knowing this, we didn't have any quarters, and had to drag our laundry back and negotiate getting quarters in a store later. Oh, and it's only 1 washer and 1 dryer in the laundry room. If we had known, at least we could have brought quarters. 2 families skiing for 4 days requires a lot of laundry. I called the Retreatia office about this during our stay after getting an email mid-trip asking how our stay was. The woman I spoke with said that she would alert a supervisor, but no one ever called me back, so I guess they don't really care about the feedback they're soliciting. The access to the unit also requires walking a LOT of stairs with gear from the parking lot, just FYI, as it's on the backside of the building down low and not street-adjacent. Further, the Retreatia on-demand shuttle was a mess. Do not use them if you need to be somewhere at a certain time, or, try to schedule a pick-up about 30 minutes before you actually need to be picked up because you'll probably not get picked up on time. We would set up pick-up times and 15-20 minutes after the scheduled time, after the shuttle not arriving, we'd give up and call an (expensive) Uber. One time the driver called us saying sorry he's running late - but again, he didn't even contact us until 20 minutes after the scheduled time. A couple of times the shuttle system worked, but you just never knew if it would. At the transit center near the ski mountain, we'd see Retreatia shuttles and think we could hop on and NONE of the drivers even knew where Hillsider was, so we could never get on the ones that happened to be there. It's not far from the mountain, but far enough that walking with kids and gear is cumbersome. So, we'd take town buses, where we were basically at the end of the line. Finally, it says to put garbage in outside bins, but we never found any. There are 2 small bins that are marked for recycling only, so again, we gave up and brought the garbage back inside for the duration of our trip. So... next time in Steamboat, we will stay elsewhere.

From the time we checked in to the time we checked out, everything was easy and the unit exceeded our expectations! Clean, orderly, well-equipped and conveniently located. Great place to stay while in Steamboat!

Great condo, super cute. Loved that all the necessities where supplied.
The only thing I would recommend is maybe some more dishes. Other than that, outstanding!
Highly recommend this unit.
